KENNEDY’S PUB

DELTA, B.C.

CLIENT:  OLMA BROTHERS DEVELOPMENTS

As one of the very early Neighbourhood Pub applications in the Lower Mainland, the application was met with extensive scrutiny by both Delta and the local neighbourhood.  Located immediately across the street from a Catholic Church and elementary school a large coordinated opposition raised various concerns regarding the pub and the proposed location.

Through an extended process of public engagement and a detailed development plan for the new facility including unique architecture, self-imposed limits on operating hours, provisions of services not present in other pubs to date (this was the first pub in B.C. to provide a full kitchen for food service) and even a weekend evening dress code, Delta was convinced to approve the application.  The efforts of the owner would set a precedent for other pubs to follow and raised the bar for these types of facilities.
