PEMBERTON BENCHLANDS NEIGHBOURHOOD CONCEPT PLAN

PEMBERTON, B.C

CLIENT:  JD HAMILTON & ASSOCIATES

The Village of Pemberton had identified an area known as the Benchlands as the primary source for future housing.  Our Clients as one of the four owners of property in this area consisting of nearly 90 ha, engaged our firm to participate on their behalf in the process of developing a Neighbourhood Community Plan.  The NCP area overlapped both the Village of Pemberton and the Squamish Lillooet Regional District.  Severe topography restrictions as well as the Agricultural Land Reserve impacted the development potential and created servicing issues as well.

The process would involve:

  1. Assessing the physical factors of the site;
  2. Identifying opportunities and constraints;
  3. Analyzing the issues and factors affecting development;
  4. Producing multiple solutions for a master plan concept;
  5. Finalizing the master plan; and
  6. Developing and supporting a master plan implementation strategy.

Public engagement throughout the process and participation in the finalization of the NCP would also be a key component.
