STONY PLAIN INDUSTRIAL PARK

STONY PLAIN, ALBERTA

CLIENT:  STONY PLAIN INDUSTRIAL PARK INC.

Stony Plain Industrial Park consists of 80 acres in the north section of the town of Stony Plain. The property was a greenfield site but had access, problematic soils and environmental issues that had to be addressed.

Our firm was the lead consultant of a comprehensive team of engineers, habitat and environmental specialists, geotechnical engineers and surveyors. Resolving the drainage, environmental and difficult soils issues in a coordinated fashion required innovative solutions and dealing with both municipal and provincial government agencies.  Maintaining the maximum developable area for the Client was a prime goal which was achieved by addressing all of the above concerns.

As part of the regulatory approvals with the Town of Stony Plain it was necessary to amend the Town’s Area Plan, rezone the property as well as subdivide the industrial park into spaces tailored to final users.

Provincial approvals required the resolution of access issues to the site and engineering off-site improvements to the satisfaction of the Alberta Ministry of Highways.  The Provincial Ministry of the Environment oversaw the approval of the preservation and enhancement of sensitive environmental areas and a detailed storm water management plan.
