HENRY STREET CONDOMINIUM APARTMENT COMPLEX

PORT MOODY, B.C.

CLIENT:  HARMONIX VENTURES

While this steep hillside site provided the opportunity for stunning views of Burrard Inlet and the North Shore Mountains beyond, it also presented significant challenges.  Portions of the hillside, known as the Chines, had previously encountered significant sloughing problems and Dagneault Planning coordinated a team of geotechnical engineers, environmentalists and architects to address these issues.  A unique design was developed that would allow the new building to ‘step’ up the hillside and use the building itself as a retaining wall to stabilize the hillside.

Because of community concerns regarding the hillside and the size of the development we initiated a series of general Public Information Meetings as well as smaller meetings with adjacent strata groups.  Traffic, construction disruptions, environmental concerns, schools as well as the geotechnical concerns were eventually satisfactorily addressed.
