As one of the first projects to start the redevelopment of the Newton Town Centre there was particular emphasis that we create a main street type store front presence with no setbacks to the building fronts and hidden parking behind the buildings. Balancing this important City priority with the needs of the tenants for high exposure and easy access to critical parking proved a challenging balancing act that was ultimately executed with both architectural and marketing success.
Because the project was located mid-block along the busy 72nd Avenue, extensive negotiations were required with Surrey Engineering to ensure key long term access would be provided from 72nd Avenue. A detailed tri-party agreement was also necessary to ensure continuing access across the adjoining development to the east.
