The expansion and redevelopment of the Safeway store on 152nd Street at Fraser Highway required a rezoning application approval for the additional area. Access to 152nd Street was a concern as was the architectural elevation that would face 88th Avenue which the building would back on to. Landscaping became an important issue to address the large blank wall.
As the store formed an integral part of the Evergreen Mall, while not actually being a legal part of the site, it was necessary to coordinate parking, access and circulation with the adjoining development.
